Directions

Mount Tabor is conveniently located in scenic Morris County adjacent to Rt. 53 in Parsippany NJ. The following directions are for those who would like to just come and visit Mount Tabor on their own, or for those who are planning to attend the annual “A Day in Old Mount Tabor” Annual House Tour.

BY TRAIN
Mount Tabor is located on the NJ Transit Morris & Essex Line.

BY BUS
The Morris County MCM10 Bus makes a stop at the Mount Tabor Firehouse on Route 53.

FROM INTERSTATE 287 HEADING NORTH and RT. 10 WEST (From South Jersey, Turnpike)
Take Exit 10 on Turnpike: I-287 North, toward Somerville and Morristown.Continue north about 40 miles. After passing Morristown, take exit 39 for Rt. 10 West (Dover). Continue on Rt. 10 West 2 miles, passing 2 lights (some businesses along the way on the right: Hilton Hotel, a Wendy's restaurant and a Barnes & Noble). Turn right (north) onto Rt. 53. There will be a sign for the Tabor Road Tavern restaurant near the turnoff. Go about 100 yards to a stop sign. Turn right (Rt. 53). Go 1-1/2 mi. to light at Dickerson Road. (Foodtown Plaza is on your left, a Heritage Bank on the right across the intersection.) Turn right onto Dickerson Road. (you are entering Mt. Tabor). FROM INTERSTATE 80 HEADING WEST
(From New York City) Interstate 80 West: Take exit 42 (Parsippany, Morris Plains, Rt. 202, 46). Keep left in exit lanes. Follow sign for Rt. 202 South (Morris Plains). Go 4/10 mi. Turn right at traffic light onto Park Road, and follow it to the end (about 1-1/2 mi. of curving road). Turn right at the traffic light onto Rt. 53. Go 1/2 mi. to light at Dickerson Road. FROM INTERSTATE 80 HEADING EAST
(From Pennsylvania) Interstate 80 East: Take exit 38 (Denville, Rt. 46 East). Stay in center lane on Rt. 46. You will pass one light. Road will narrow (right lane ends just past Wendy's). Exit right onto Rt. 53 South (direction Mt. Tabor, Morristown). Go 1 mile. You will pass 4 lights. At the fourth light, you will see a park on the hill on the left. There is a Foodtown plaza on the right, and a Heritage Bank on the left. Turn left onto Dickerson Road. This is the entrance to Mt. Tabor. FROM RT. 10 EAST
Take exit onto Rt. 53 North. Continue on Rt. 53 for approximately 1-1/2 miles to light at Dickerson Road. (Foodtown Plaza is on your left, a Heritage Bank on the right across the intersection.) ONCE YOU ENTER MT. TABOR:
By way of Dickerson Road: Take the first right onto Fletcher Place, and continue uphill to the first crossroad, which will be Simpson Avenue. Turn right onto Simpson Avenue. Almost immediately you will see a very large building on your left (the Tabernacle) which houses the Fire Department and the Post Office. Just beyond that building on the right you will see a Gazebo at the top of the park.

On the day of the house tour, this is where you can purchase tickets, or pick up your tour booklets if you purchased tickets in advance.

For PARKING: Continue past the Gazebo and follow posted signs and parking attendants to the United Methodist Church of Mt. Tabor (on your right). The parking lot is around to the side and back of the church building. Please do not park in the "upper lot" (the lot nearest to Simpson Ave.) This is a permit parking area for residents only.
