Turn Your Plate Over and Have a Good Read: Dating and Understanding Transferware

This free, illustrated lecture by David Cowell, noted historian and professor emeritus of Drew University, will focus on the development of domestic china from original production in China, to the present time. The development of transfer printing in the Staffordshire region of England in the 18th and 19th century will be discussed. Examples from the speaker’s collection will show china pieces to demonstrate major techniques, marks and technological changes.
The program will be presented at the Bethel in Mount Tabor at 7:30pm with refreshments served at 7:00pm. Park at the post office at 26 Simpson Avenue and walk up the pedestrian path to the Bethel. This program will be co-sponsored by the Mount Tabor Historical Society and the Mount Tabor Library.
